Help for Australia

Who helps and saves the innocent victims?

Australia is on fire. Although bush fires are not uncommon in Australia in summer. But the current dimension goes far beyond what has been known so far. More than 10 million hectares, an area roughly the size of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg combined, have already been burned. This natural disaster cost numerous human lives. But also more than one billion animals lost their lives. Often under dramatic circumstances. The WWF estimates that more than 8000 koalas have died in the fires on the central north coast of New South Wales alone and that more than 50 percent of the population of the Kangaroo Islands in South Australia has been lost. An extreme loss for a species that is slowly disappearing from our planet anyway. But kangaroos and emus have also been severely decimated by the fires. Those who have survived suffer from burns, lack of water and food.

It's as simple as that!

The numbers, the pictures, the scale. We've seldom felt so powerless. Like many others, we want to help save injured wild animals and rebuild their habitat. Even small contributions can help. Whoever orders a koala, a kangaroo or an emu from Lucka.dog from now on, helps automatically. Because we donate a fixed amount for every dog toy sold.

Buy a koala, a kangaroo or an emu and for each big soft toy (Large) we transfer 5 EUR to WIRES. For each small toy (Small) we transfer 2 EUR. With this money we support the "WIRES Emergency Fund" which rescues and repaires sick, injured and orphaned animals like koalas, kangaroos, emus, wombats and flying foxes from the affected regions.

Australia's leading wildlife rescue organisation

WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.) has been saving and caring for wildlife for over 30 years and is the largest wildlife conservation organisation in Australia. WIRES is particularly happy to support smaller voluntary organisations in the wildlife sector with the same mission, but also universities, veterinary associations and other scientific and environmental groups.

Over the past 5 years, WIRES has worked with WWF, National Parks Association, Humane Society International, Wilderness Society, Nature Conservation Council, Birdlife, RSPCA, Animal Welfare League and IFAW, and with these organisations, WIRES has made significant and ongoing contributions to wildlife rehabilitation.

WIRES has a presence primarily in New South Wales and conducts more than 90,000 rescues each year. Following the catastrophic bush fires, WIRES is now looking for additional ways to help wildlife throughout Australia. This wildlife rescue organisation includes over 2,500 volunteers in 28 branches who work around the clock to rescue and care for wildlife in need.

It will take many years, cost immense effort and require great financial help until the natural habitat for these unique animals is restored.

Buy a Fuzzyard soft toy for your dog and inform other dog owners about this help offer. Because together we can successfully support the helpers in Australia even with small amounts. The real work only begins when the fires in the crisis areas finally go out.

  • Spendenaktion HELP AUSTRALIA
